Mr. Frantz - Teacher Who Makes a Difference 2017
It is with great honor and pride that I announce John Frantz as Lyman Gilmore Middle School's Teacher Who Makes a Difference. John wears many hats at Lyman Gilmore. First and foremost, he's the school's band director. As band director, John is able to dive head first into his true passion, teaching music to kids! To see him in his element, is something incredible to observe. The way he's able to get the most "tone deaf", rhythmless, musically challenged kids to perform at a high level is a miracle. That's what John is...a miracle worker! He's able to perform miracles over and over again. And, to see how the students respond is amazing. They care about what they're learning because they know that he cares about them. Student after student has left Lyman Gilmore and, time and time again, has excelled in music at the high school level and beyond. Students and their parents have spoken and have said that John is one of the main reasons for their continued successes in music. Another hat that John Frantz's wears is that of Culinary Arts teachers. A program that has been a Lyman Gilmore staple for many years John, in the past few years, has taken the program to new heights! He teaches kids how to be self-sufficient and how to take care of themselves and their families. He teaches them simple culinary techniques, like how to make cookies and cinnamon rolls, and more difficult ones like making sushi rolls and full course meals. When a student leave his class, well let's just say, they may leave a little healthier and prepared! Lastly, John is a shoulder to cry on, a listening ear, and motivator. His students love him and his peers value him. Congratulations, John Frantz, for being Lyman Gilmore Middle School's Teacher Who Makes a Difference.
