Girls from middle schools across Nevada County spent Saturday exploring the science, technology, engineering and mathematics, or STEM, fields at the second annual ‘STEM into Knowledge’ camp at Nevada Union High School.

The half-day event was hosted by Nevada Union’s Women Exploring Math-based Career Choices, or We=mc2, club, with the support of the Nevada County branch of the American Association of University Women. Sixth, seventh and eighth grade girls spent the morning participating in hands-on STEM projects, and also heard presentations from women pursuing STEM-related careers
